Designing for the next decade.

EXPLORE the future of DESIGN AND ENGINEERING AS WE SEE IT
THROUGH ARUP RESEARCH.

The world is changing faster than ever. Some events, inventions and movements will surprise and delight us. Others won't. We use research to prepare for all of it.
At Arup Research, we test and develop early stage or high risk technologies, methodologies, materials and ideas in real-world applications.
The Research Review is a bi-annual publication where we share what our people have been working on over the past few months.

The Arup Research Review is a bi-annual publication where we share our most interesting engineering and design research from the past few months. From exploring mycelium as a low-carbon building material to combining qualitative and quantitative data to get a better understanding of how people move around cities, these projects vary in scale, stage and application.

Some have led to the creation of new products, services and processes. Others are simply our first steps toward validating a hunch or hypothesis. Each issue contains a selection from the 80 or so projects in our annual portfolio.

Under the Viaduct: Neglected spaces no longer
Re-designing the space beneath big-city infrastructure.
Cities Alive: Designing for Urban Childhoods
A child-friendly approach to urban planning.
